Bio

I am a practicing Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and research-active professor that loves food and is fascinated by the human body! My main areas of professional interest include women's health and sports nutrition, particularly the impact of health behaviors during pregnancy on short- and long-term maternal and fetal outcomes and the impact of diet quality and energy availability on exercise performance for female athletes.

Since 2005, I have worked as a nutrition educator in non-profit, outpatient, and wellness settings. In 2009 I created Major League Wellness, which is focused on delivering sports nutrition and weight management guidance to athletes of all ages. I am available to meet one-on-one or to present to teams/groups.
Beginning in 2007 I also began work in higher education, which has included teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in sports nutrition, dietary supplements, research methods, exercise physiology, and anatomy and physiology. I have taught in-person and online, and am familiar with online platforms like Blackboard. I have experience developing courses from scratch and am currently pursuing graduate training in instructional design. Throughout my academic career I have conducted human subjects research, including body composition analysis, dietary intake assessment, and exercise performance testing.

Outside of my paid positions, I also hold several volunteer roles to support the dietetics profession. Currently, these efforts are focused on engaging more dietetic students and credentialed professionals in public policy and advocacy activities.
