What is a SHPN RD?

A SHPN dietitian is a Registered Dietitian (RD) with training, expertise and an unmistakable passion.

As registered dietitians, we have met educational requirements set by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

    All Registered Dietitians:

Have completed a bachelor's degree at an accredited university or college with course work approved by CDR

Have completed a CDR-accredited supervised practice program (6 to 12 month internship)

    Have passed a national examination

Must complete complete continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registered status on an ongoing basis (similar to other medical professionals)

Sports dietitians specialize in working with high school and collegiate athletes, Olympians, and professional sports teams. Many have specialized training in their area(s) of interest, such as being a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) or Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).

As the true experts, SHPN dietitians use their knowledge and expertise in a comprehensive approach and in a wide variety of settings every day.
