STANDARDS OF PRACTICE

ACADEMY OF NUTRITION AND DIETETICS 2014 REVISED STANDARDS OF PRACTICE AND STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE FOR REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRITIONISTS IN SPORTS DIETETICS

SHPN sports dietitians, with guidance from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Quality Management Committee, revised the Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance as a resource for registered dietitian nutritionists working in sports nutrition and dietetics to use in professional development. The revised document reflects advances in sports nutrition and dietetics practice since the original standards were published in 2009 and replaces those standards. The standards serve as guides for self-evaluation and to determine the education and skills needed to advance an individual's level of practice. Although not regulations, the standards may be used by regulatory agencies to determine competency for credentialed dietetics practitioners.
